I began my journey with yoga seven years ago. I was at a low point in my life, was overweight, and relying heavily on self medicating through alcohol. A friend at the time took me to my first Bikram Yoga Class when I was 25.
I've lived with a mood disorder for 13 year and at the time I was introduced to Bikram I was just coming out of a struggle. Over the course of the next year I started getting into Yoga more and more and it helped me embrace sobriety; it got to the point where I was doing the Bikram Hot 26 and 2 four times a week!
I was introduced to a former teacher of Maui Hot Yoga through Bikram and she recommended checking out Maui Hot Yoga. The rest is history. The blue room is my magic and where I come alive. Through years of Bikram followed by getting into Vinyasa full force I shed a total of 50 pounds over five years and have never been stronger in my life. I couple my yoga practice with regular strength training, cardio exercise, and more importantly running. My classes are strong and move forward, movement oriented, because that’s what I’ve always enjoyed as a student.
I take pride in my flows, transitions, and especially in my music, because when I did my 200 hour YTT when I was 28 I resonated with the concept of “Bhavana” or cultivating the room by bringing your own compassion.
Yoga saved my life. I would not be able to manage my mood disorder without this practice. Yoga gave me pillars of belief when I had nothing else to stand for in my life.
I am beyond grateful for every class that I get to teach and take. Maui Hot Yoga and Ashtanga has been my home studio for yours and I couldn’t be more proud or honored to be part of the team.
